Hey deviantARTers-

I just finished up a 5 part comic writing tutorial run through on my blog and figured, since there are so many comic book fans and creative-types here, I'd post links to them here in case any of you might find them useful/interesting:

Part 1: Brainstorming
Part 2: Story Pacing
Part 3: Page Planning
Part 4: Scripting
Part 5: Dialogue

This isn't any kind of absolute-must-follow method, just the way I work and a few tips. If you found these posts helpful, feel free to let me know here (or on Twitter) and share the posts with your friends.

Let me know if you have any questions or comments.

I've begun to read through this all since I want to write and draw my own comic and it looks like more work than I was expecting.

When it comes to the actual drawing part, does the industry prefer it to be done traditionally or is Digitally accepted too?

The industry's come a long way in this regard. It's about the quality of the artwork, not what medium you're using. If you look at high quality published books you'll see a wide variety of styles and approaches. It doesn't matter whether it's traditional or digital, just that the final output is professional quality and appropriate to the project you're pitching.

Well that's good to know. Traditionally with pencil and ink I'm not that good however with my stylus and tablet I can get it done. And sometimes people tell me that publishers expected a traditionally inked piece and I wasn't sure if that was a fact or made up rumor.

Even though I haven't gotten the chance to give these a deeper look, I'm really excited of the detail in your text which I can already see from just pretty much running through each chapter. I'm looking forward to getting home and giving them a more thorough read (: Great work!

Since it's August right now, perhaps you should reveal the exact day of the Klonoa webcomic's release.

That's up to Bandai-Namco, not me. Hopefully they'll have a release date for it soon!
