Eurovision nightGot myself some ice cream and will be making myself compfy on the sofa so I'm ready for the big, glittery, horrible music, camp, pointless politics, drama that is eurovision. It never disappoints me. :la:

The Echo chamber dilemmaThe promise of the Internet was that unlimited information and experiences would draw us together. But instead it seems to have driven us apart.
For years I've observed this behavior but haven't been able to vocalize it correctly. Originally I called the behavior of collective opinions as "the hive mentality" of the Internet. But that wasn't exactly right and I often got called out on it. The most prominent example was when I made a comic about a guy disagreeing with opinions and being shouted at till he remained quiet, eventually fading into the background with everyone else. The consensus of that comic was that if you disagree with someone you aren't bullied into not speaking, but instead are free to go someplace else where people who do agree with you exist. And you know what? That wasn't what i was trying to convey, but is sadly true. The Internet is not a hive mind. It's many tiny pocket echo chambers of mutual agreements.

Jim Zub at Gen Con 2012

This year's Gen Con Indy (August 16-19) is going to be epic.

I'm toggling between three different locations promoting a trio of gaming-related goodness.

Skullkickers: I'm set up at Booth #745 along with with Tracy Hickman (Dragonlance, XDM, Wayne of Gotham) and Howard Tayler (Schlock Mercenary) promoting Skullkickers with comic issues, books and our convention exclusive Skullkickers World Map.




Munchkin-Skullkickers: Steve Jackson Games (Booth #1301) will have copies of Munchkin-Skullkickers for sale and I'll be signing over there for a couple hours on Thursday and Saturday.



Pathfinder the Comic Series: The Pathfinder comic launches at Gen Con! Paizo Publishing (Booth #203) has an exclusive variant cover of the first issue for sale at the show and I'll be signing at select times each day along side artist Andrew Huerta.

Relax. There's no big conspiracy. Bandai-Namco hasn’t set a formal launch date yet. They’re building up artwork from Ariga-san to make sure there’s a good buffer of strips ready before they finalize the start date.

They're not tricking or lying to me (or the fans), they're just making sure they have enough material ready and approved before launching the comic.

Once I know for sure on the launch date of the comic I’ll post about it here on deviantART and on my blog.

It's not something that's up to me, I'm afraid. Try to be patient and hopefully it will arrive soon. As soon as they tell me a release date I'll be sure to let everyone here on DA know.
